Out of spite, Tyler spread the photograph of Hannah and Courtney to the entire school, causing Courtney to turn her back on Hannah and Hannah getting harassed by Bryce and Monty. He stated that he was attracted to her and met her when attempting to gather yearbook photos and being rebuffed she offered herself as a subject after some girls told him to go away.

Tyler helped Hannah open her locker and they introduced themselves. He then asked her to model for a photo shoot in the park to which she agreed. At the photoshoot, Tyler saw that Hannah had been crying. Hannah apologized to Tyler for not being camera ready, but Tyler said that she was good and told her to be herself.

In court, Tyler mentioned wondering who would make her cry when she only ever deserved to be happy. In present time, the school’s lawyer asked if it’s true that because Hannah liked the attention and no real bullying resulted from the photos he took. Tyler denied this, talking about the picture Justin took of her saying that it affected her.

After the groups’ efforts to destroy Bryce and the jocks, it caused enough problems for the school to cancel the rest of the sports season, Montgomery and two other jocks got revenge and they assaulted Tyler Down, Monty took it further and sexually assaulted him via sodomization with a mop handle.

So much so, his guilt weighed on him more and more as 13 Reasons Why season 1 went on. In his eyes, he was the reason Hannah had no friends that she could turn to at the end. 13 Reasons Why season 2 revealed that Alex’s guilt went even deeper than previously known. Initially struggling with his memories due to the traumatic brain injury he had suffered, he eventually remembered he’d been in the vicinity when Hannah Baker was raped by Bryce Walker.

Something Felt Off When Jed Proposed – Hannah’s final four men ended up being Peter, Jed, Luke and Tyler. Though Hannah had initially promised herself that she wouldn’t sleep with any of her men during Fantasy Suites, she had a memorable overnight in a windmill with Peter, and then had sex with Jed during their date, too.

1. Though Hannah writes that sex with Jed “wasn’t as good as it was with Peter,” it was during her overnight with the musician that she decided Jed was the man for her.

In the present, Clay hears Zach’s tape and keys his car in an act of revenge and is eventually caught, but things turn out to be different than they appeared: Zach was actually scared by the letter’s content and kept it to himself. Clay is now having both auditory and visual hallucinations of Hannah during the day, including seeing her dead body on the floor of the basketball court during a game and hearing her tape playing over the school’s intercom system. He returns the tapes to Tony, unable to continue listening, but continues to experience problems, leading him to snap in the hallways. Hannah presents some extremely revealing and confessional poetry at the poetry club after Ryan encourages her. Ryan betrays her by publishing the poem without her knowledge or consent in his school magazine. Almost everyone in school finds the poem hilarious, but Clay is both touched and disturbed by it, not realizing Hannah is the author. In the present day, Tony confides to Clay about the night of Hannah’s death, and Clay takes back the tapes. Clay later gives the poem to Hannah’s mother. Tape subject : Ryan Shaver, for stealing a poem Hannah wrote detailing her personal problems and publishing it in his magazine without her consent.

Clay finally admits to his mother that he and Hannah were close. After getting suspicious legal advice from his mother, he goes to Justin’s apartment to retrieve his bike and talk about getting justice for Jessica. Justin finally admits that what happened in the tapes is real, and claims it is better if Jessica does not know the truth. Tape subject : Justin Foley (and seemingly Hannah Baker herself), for allowing Bryce to rape his girlfriend Jessica.

While Hannah is on her way to find a phone to call the authorities, the downed stop sign causes a serious accident at that intersection, resulting in the death of Clay’s friend Jeff Atkins, which was incorrectly considered a drunk driving accident. When Hannah tries to tell Clay about the stop sign, he pushes her away, thinking she is being unnecessarily dramatic. In the present, Jessica’s behavior becomes more erratic. Clay finds out that Sheri is trying to make up for her mistake in her own way, and he tells Jeff’s parents that Jeff was sober when he died. Tape subject : Sheri Holland, for abandoning Hannah after crashing her car into a stop sign, which ultimately caused the death of Jeff Atkins.

Tony manages to calm him down; the two climb a mountain and each have a mental breakdown at the top. Justin finds out Jessica is at Bryce’s home. He confronts her there and admits that Bryce raped her on the night of the party, causing her to slap him. Olivia Baker finds a list with the names of all the people on the tapes, although she does not know what the list means. Tape subject : Ostensibly Clay Jensen, for complying with Hannah’s request to leave her alone at Jessica’s party. However, Hannah is explicit in stating Clay is not included in the list, but is there because he must be, as he is part of the story.

After accidentally losing her parents’ store’s earnings, a depressed Hannah stumbles upon a party being thrown by Bryce. The night ends in tragedy when she ends up alone with him, and he rapes her in his hot tub. This leads Hannah to create a list of people (the one that her mother found in the previous episode) who she feels were responsible for leading her to her current circumstances, which becomes the inspiration for the creation of the tapes. In the present, everyone on Hannah’s list is subpoenaed to testify in the lawsuit between the Bakers and the school. The subjects of the tapes disagree over what to do. Tyler eventually suggests they pin everything on Bryce, but Alex refuses and says they should tell the truth. Sheri turns herself in. Clay goes to Bryce’s house, on the pretext of buying marijuana, to confront him about the events of the night he raped Hannah. Clay provokes Bryce to attack him and is badly beaten. However, Clay has been secretly recording their conversation and gets Bryce to admit that he raped Hannah. An unknown teenager with a gunshot wound to the head is treated by paramedics. Hannah begins to record the tapes and then visits Mr. Porter to tell him about her rape as she secretly records the conversation, hoping he will help her. When he does not, she heads to a post office and mails the tapes to Justin Foley before going home and taking her own life by slitting her wrists. In the present, Clay gives Tony the tape of his conversation with Bryce to copy before confronting Mr. Porter about meeting with Hannah on her last day, giving him the tapes before leaving. Tony copies the tapes onto a flash drive and gives it to the Bakers. As the depositions begin, Marcus and Courtney deny their involvement in Hannah’s death as much as possible while Zach and Jessica admit their mistakes. Before his deposition, Tyler hides ammunition and guns in his room, then reveals the existence of the tapes and Clay’s possession of them during his interview. Alex is revealed to have been the teenager with the gunshot wound; he is in critical condition at the hospital. Jessica finally tells her father about her rape while at school Clay reaches out to Skye Miller, his former friend, to avoid repeating the same mistakes he made with Hannah. Did Tyler shoot Alex in 13 Reasons Why?

One of the reasons people want a second season of 13 Reasons Why is to resolve a number of seeming cliffhangers that the season finale leaves us with, Though I’ve argued that these cliffhangers are resolved or left deliberately open ended, making a second season unnecessary, there is a plot line that’s troubling in how murky it is, and that’s Alex’s fate.

• At the end of episode 12, we see Alex talking to his dad about his deposition, looking physically bruised and emotionally exhausted.
• His dad tells him he’s a good kid.
• It’s clear from Alex’s face that he doesn’t agree.
• It’s the last time we see him: In the next couple of scenes, we hear an ambulance going past the Jensen house, then we’re in the ambulance, and hear that they’re taking a “17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head” to the hospital.

In the final episode, Principal Bolan rushes in to tell Mr. Porter that it was Alex and that he shot himself in the head the night before and is in critical condition. Open-and-shut case, right? But here’s where the showrunners throw us for a loop: with Tyler.

The bullied photographer and Hannah’s erstwhile stalker had bought a gun a few episodes earlier, and in the season finale, we see a box with multiple guns and ammo, implying he was planning a school shooting. The very next scene, he’s giving his deposition and expounding on the torture he’s endured at the hands of his classmates.

But in the same conversation, he blurts out that Hannah made tapes, which has the effect of blowing the case open, and quite possibly, unburdening Tyler’s soul just a little bit. Enough to make him give up a plan? Maybe. I’d be satisfied with that thought if not for the next time we see Tyler, which is where things get, as I said, murky — and a connection between him and Alex’s shooting emerges. In his dark room, Tyler is looking at a set of photos, and then he has a memory: one of Montgomery bullying him in the halls and Alex coming to his aid. Back in present day, he takes down the photo of Alex, and you realize taking his photo down is a symbol.

• Even more bone chillingly, the camera pans on the paparazzi-style photos of a certain group: Courtney, Bryce, Montgomery, Sheri, Marcus, Justin, and Clay.
• All of these people had a hand in Tyler’s more recent pain, many of them having kept him from being a part of the weird little 13-reason secrets club,

(Tellingly, he puts up a new photo of someone in this scene: Clay, who had blasted a photo of Tyler’s bare butt as revenge for Hannah). So, of course, a lot of viewers are theorizing that this could mean Tyler is connected to Alex’s shooting. It’s so gray, though, that we think there are three possibilities for what happened to Alex off screen:

Tyler shoots Alex, as part of his revenge plan. This would mean Tyler was not planning on going to the school with his arsenal and attacking the whole school, but instead, would target the people on his list one by one. This makes sense, given the individual shots of people that appear to be his intended victims. Since we only see up to the day after Alex’s shooting, it’s possible that it hasn’t been determined whether the gunshot was self-inflicted or not yet (and Principal Bolan may not have had his facts straight). Tyler helps Alex shoot himself. This theory supposes that Tyler was still involved in Alex’s death, but instead gave him the gun with which to shoot himself. Yes, Alex’s dad is a cop, implying that he’d have home access to the guns, but I could see Alex not wanting to do that and implicate his father in any way. In some ways, this makes more sense when you factor in the dark room scene, because Tyler is having a memory of Alex helping him. Perhaps this is Tyler’s twisted thinking of how he has “helped” Alex. Alex shoots himself. This is the aforementioned open-and-shut case scenario. Of course, this is where we need to factor in the dark room scene. Tyler could have removed the photo of Alex because Alex has already eliminated himself from Tyler’s list.

See? Not so clear at all, especially when you consider that word may not have spread yet about Alex, making it stranger that Tyler already knew if he wasn’t involved.

Who threatened tyler in 13 reasons Why?

13 Reasons Why: The Identity of the Person Sending Those Threats Might Surprise You Warning: Big ol’ spoilers for 13 Reasons Why season two below! The big mystery of ‘s first season mainly revolved around one thing: who is responsible for ? As we ultimately find out in the last handful of episodes, the acts that finally pushed her over the edge were being raped by and the failure of to help her after she reached out.

Since season two’s narrative doesn’t have the aid of Hannah’s 13 tapes in season two, the Netflix drama attempts to craft a set of new mysteries for us to unravel over the course of the new episodes. The five months after Hannah’s death, dropping us into the midst of the court case raging on between Hannah’s parents and the school district.

Although wondering who will win the legal battle is definitely a mystery of sorts, ominous things start getting left in the lockers, homes, and offices of the main characters: notes threatening people not to testify and graphic Polaroids warning that “Hannah wasn’t the only one.” The threatening notes are, by far, the most damaging.

• Everyone who’s set to testify in the trial ends up getting a chilling threat at one point or another, ranging from photos scrawled with messages like “You talk, you die” to bloody animal corpses and guns showing up in mailboxes.
• Hannah’s mom, Olivia, even sees her drugstore completely destroyed by crude graffiti and smashed windows, and Clay nearly dies when the unknown person runs him off the road and into a ditch.

So, who is the person responsible?, We discover in the final two episodes that Monty, a popular baseball player and Bryce’s BFF, is the one who’s been sneaking around and stealing things, vandalizing property, and making death threats. Alex is the one who puts it all together. By the end of the season, Alex’s memory is finally starting to come back after his suicide attempt.

He spends most of season two wondering why he decided to shoot himself in the head — his suicide note said “I could have stopped it” — and eventually pieces together that he and Monty heard Hannah being raped the night of Bryce’s party. A flashback shows that instead of going outside to help, they ignored her cries of distress and kept playing video games.

That’s why Monty doesn’t want anyone leaking sensitive information at the trial. Zach, Clay, Alex, and Justin confront Monty about it, and later he ends up being questioned by the police for his behavior. There’s no word on whether or not he’ll be arrested or receive jail time, unfortunately.

• It’s also revealed that one of the threats Jessica receives — photos taped up on a whiteboard in her classroom calling her a “drunk slut” — is actually masterminded, Bryce’s girlfriend (she didn’t want her boyfriend to get in trouble at the trial).
• And as for those Polaroids? It turns out Zach has been the one sneaking them into Clay’s backpack all along.

He tells Clay he’s always been too much of a “coward” to do the right thing, so he was hoping Clay would have the guts to. The graphic images, which show Bryce sexually assaulting unconscious female classmates (including Chloe, FYI), seem like they’re going to be the key to putting the serial rapist away for good.

Did Alex dad know he killed Bryce?

13 Reasons Why: Five Questions Season Four Will Have to Answer This post contains spoilers for 13 Reasons Why season three. In its third season, 13 Reasons Why was, shall we say, a lot. There were murders, deportations, a dizzying number of drugs, and even more secrets coming out into the open—well, mostly.

What began as a relatively confined story about one teenage girl’s suicide has ballooned into a haunting examination of the teenage condition, presented through a hyperdramatic filter. This 13-hour season was a twisty ride that left in its wake several loose threads—questions that the Netflix drama’s will have to answer.

The biggest mystery is whether Clay Jensen ( Dylan Minnette ) and his friends will actually get away with lying to the police about who killed Bryce Walker ( Justin Prentice )—but these five dangling threads will also play a role. Will Season Four Be All About Monty? Bryce’s murder investigation comes to a close with police blaming the wrong person—because Clay’s friends framed him.

1. The actual details of Bryce’s death are complicated: Zach Dempsey ( Ross Butler ) beat Bryce to a bloody pulp on the docks after the Liberty High School homecoming game.
2. Jessica Davis ( Alisha Boe ) and Alex Standall ( Miles Heizer ) found Bryce later that night; though Alex at first reluctantly attempted to help him, he then thought about all the people he loved whom Bryce had hurt and, seemingly without thinking, threw Bryce into the river.

Panic-stricken, he and Jess watched the injured Bryce as he drowned. In the end, it was Montgomery de la Cruz ( Timothy Granaderos ) who posthumously got the blame for Bryce’s death—though at least one person knows that the story Clay’s friends told the police to implicate Monty was a lie.

Monty, who is closeted, was actually having sex with one of Bryce’s Hillcrest classmates, Winston Williams, as Bryce was being murdered; he later went to prison for sexually assaulting Tyler Down ( Devin Druid ). As Bryce’s murder investigation was closing, Clay’s friend Ani ( Grace Saif ) found out Monty had been beaten to death in prison.

So she and the rest of Clay’s friends pinned Bryce’s murder on him. Winston confronted Ani about the lie at the end of this season—and if this show’s patterns hold true next season, it seems likely we haven’t heard the last from him (or Monty) just yet.

What Will the Fisherman Do With Tyler’s Guns? When Clay and Tony Padilla ( Christian Navarro ) covered up Tyler’s plans to commit a mass shooting at their school’s Spring Fling, they dumped all of Tyler’s guns in the river—and at the end of this season, a fisherman found them in the water. It’s unclear whether Clay and Tony had the foresight to wipe any fingerprints off the guns—or if their serial numbers might trace back to Tyler and his family.

But either way, the stash seems bound to haunt these troubled teens when the series returns. Can Justin and Jessica Make It as a Couple? The romantic relationship between Justin and Jessica might be one of the show’s most complicated. The series appears to have somewhat softened its stance when it comes to the extent to which Justin “let” Bryce rape Jessica at a party years ago—but regardless, it’s been an understandably fraught facet of their relationship, especially as Jessica leads the school’s rape survivor activist group.

At the end of this season, Justin revealed to the school that he himself was a sexual assault survivor; as he later told Jessica, one of his mother’s drug-addicted boyfriends molested him as a child. He was also assaulted multiple times when he did sex work while living on the streets. Justin is still working through his heroin addiction as well.

Jessica is undeniably courageous, and her reclamation of her body and sexuality was one of this season’s high points—but after what happened with Bryce, she remains somewhat fragile. Season 4 will have to continue to explore the complicated wrinkles in her relationship with Justin, and ultimately decide whether Justin and Jessica’s love for one another is enough to overcome the trauma they’ve both endured.

Will Tony’s Family Ever Return to the U.S.? Tony’s family apparently got deported after Bryce’s father alerted authorities to their immigration status, though Tony and his little sister, Graciella, were both born in the U.S. Tony sent Graciella to live with their uncle and aunt in Arizona, and at the end of the season, he and his boyfriend, Caleb, video-chatted with Tony’s family.

Earlier in the season, Tony was set on reuniting his family, and it’s unclear if he still plans to do so. It seems unlikely that Tony will be content to have his sister living so far away, and his parents even further—but it’s hard to say what he can do to rectify the situation.

• Still, this is 13 Reasons Why, so it seems very likely that he’s going to try.
• What’s Next for Alex? Alex, like pretty much all of his classmates, has been through a lot in three seasons.
• Wracked with guilt over all that Hannah revealed in her tapes in season one, Alex attempted suicide.
• He survived, but sustained brain injuries that affected his memory and muscle coordination.

This season, Alex is insecure about his body, particularly after his breakup with Jessica—so he asks Zach to help him learn to lift weights, and uses steroids to boost his performance. Going into season four, Alex’s father, Deputy Standall, is aware of his son’s role in Bryce’s murder, as well as his drug use.

Still, Deputy Standall seems content to, as Ani put it in her testimony, “let the dead bury the dead,” and lay the blame for Bryce’s death on the already-deceased Monty. Deputy Standall burned what looked like the clothing Alex was wearing on the night of Bryce’s death, but whether he will confront Alex about any of this remains to be seen.

As the season came to a close, he told Alex that when he first found him after the suicide attempt, he wished he had been the one with a bullet in his head instead of his son. He later offered an emotional Thanksgiving prayer: “Father, please bless and keep safe our children,” he said.

Does Alex go to jail for killing Bryce?

Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker Warning: This post contains major plot points from the third season of 13 Reasons Why, DO NOT READ unless you want to have the season’s mystery spoiled for you. Ever since the moment that Netflix released the first trailer for 13 Reasons Why ‘s third season, we’ve known one thing: Someone killed Bryce Walker.

Throughout the entirety of the season —13 episodes, to be exact—the students of Liberty High worked together to try to figure out who was responsible. All signs pointed to the night of the Homecoming game, which was played between Liberty and Hillcrest, A.K.A Bryce’s new school. A fight broke out. Zach was carried off the field with a busted knee.

Everyone else walked away with black eyes and bruises. But Bryce walked away never to be seen again. At least not by everyone. The question of the season was this: What happened between the Homecoming game and Bryce’s body washing up? And before we reveal the answer, let us once again say this: THIS IS A MAJOR SPOILER.

Only scroll if you want all the answers Okay, here’s how it went down: Before the Homecoming game started, Bryce asked if Jessica would meet him after. He had something he wanted to give to her. But after Bryce tore up Zach’s knee in the fight, it was Zach who followed Bryce out to the docks where he was supposed to meet Jess.

There, Zach fought Bryce, breaking one of his legs and one of his arms in the process. But Zach didn’t kill Bryce. He simply left him with no way to get home (or even get up). After Zach left, Jessica and Alex showed up. (She brought Alex for protection.) Bryce gave her a tape he’d made admitting to all of the rapes he’d committed and apologizing for the damage he’d done.

1. But just as Jess and Alex started to leave, Bryce asked if they could help him get up.
2. Alex started to help Bryce walk, but then Alex realized just how much hurt Bryce had caused all of them.
3. At that moment, Alex shoved him into the water where Bryce would go on to drown.
4. And yet, Alex didn’t go to jail for his crime.

Instead, everyone agreed to place the blame on Monty, who was already in jail—and it turns out had already been killed in jail—for sexually assaulting Tyler in season 2, So not only did Alex kill Bryce, but he got away with it. Does Clay know Alex killed Bryce?

About – Before the Homecoming game, Chlöe Rice told Bryce Walker that she was pregnant and had an abortion, Bryce comments that he was sorry she had to be alone in it, Chlöe told him she wasn’t alone; she had Zach Dempsey, He walked away believing that Zach slowly stole Chlöe from him and he became angry, during the game he constantly had words with Zach, one of them being “You stole my girlfriend buddy, you don’t think that’s for free do you?” he also spent a lot of the game going out of his way, to hurt Zach.

• During half-time, while Zach gave a speech to his team, Jessica Davis and her H.O.
• Group members performed a demonstration on the field, calling out predators on the Liberty Tigers sports teams.
• Dean Holbrook—a student from Hillcrest, Liberty High ‘s rival school—sexually assaulted her by running up behind her and grabbing her chest.

Dean doing this broke out a fight between Hillcrest and Liberty High’s sports teams, with Liberty High defending Jessica. Justin, Clay, Bryce, Zach and Jessica got tied up in it. Clay—furious with Bryce for having a relationship with Ani Achola —grabbed Bryce and tried to fight him, but Justin got him off and held him back.

Jessica fought jocks but was quickly dragged off of the field by police. Bryce then saw Zach fighting someone else and took the opportunity while Zach couldn’t see him and he put on a football helmet and charged straight for Zach’s knee, breaking it in the process. Justin saw and heard Zach in pain and ran over, he called over Charlie St.

George and they called the Liberty Tigers doctor in, Zach got driven to the hospital, had x-rays done, got a brace put on and then got sent home. However he didn’t stay at home, he went to see Bryce at the Navy Pier Dock to talk to him, Bryce taunted him and Zach ended up fighting him, hitting him multiple times, dislocating his arm and then throwing him down to the ground.

1. He finally stopped and they had a conversation: Zach : “You ruined my fucking life! Big man! Scary fucking Bryce” Bryce : “What the fuck?” Zach : “You took away my future tonight (injurying his knee)” Bryce : “You took away mine (helping Chlöe get an abortion)” Zach : “No.
2. You did that to yourself.” Bryce : “Did you fuck her Zach? Chlöe? Did you fuck her? How many times? Did she scream for you like she did for me? ” Zach : “Chlöe’s my friend.

I’m sorry you never had a friend in your life.” Bryce : “She didn’t fuck you ’cause you’re a pussy-ass bitch!” ― Zach and Bryce after Zach hits Bryce and dislocates his arm After the conversation, Zach broke both of his legs by angrily stomping on them.

He walked away, but Bryce taunted him further by calling him names over and over out of pain and anger, Zach came back and searched for Bryce’s phone, he found it and then threw it in the river so that Bryce couldn’t text or call anyone for help. Zach then walked away, leaving Bryce severely injured at night in the cold; He left to meet up with Chlöe.

Later on, Jessica arrived as Bryce had asked her to meet him by the dock so he could give her something, she brought Alex Standall for security. Bryce took out the tape that he wanted to give her but dropped it on the floor nand it became covered in his blood, he picked it up and held out his hand for her to take it, she took it and walked back to Alex.

• Alex asked what was on the tape, Bryce told them that he recorded himself confessing to raping Jessica, Hannah Baker and other girls and apologized to Jessica on it.
• Jessica took it and they started to walk away.
• Bryce begged for them to help him up, Jessica told Alex that if they helped him Zach could go to jail if Bryce talked.

Alex told her that if they didn’t help, Bryce would freeze to death from his injuries caused by Zach, and Zach would definitely go to jail. Alex walked back and helped Bryce up, however as Bryce stood up he was in a fury of pain from his injuries and reverted back to his old ways, he told Alex and Jessica “Fucking Zach, I’m gonna fuck up his other knee and wreck his fucking life”, Alex told him that he was not going to do anything but Bryce continued.

Bryce looked Jessica in the eyes and told her “You! you set me up!” believing Jess told Zach where he would be. Alex told him that she didn’t set him up, but he continued “She fucking set me up!!”, Alex looked him in the eye and told him “You’ve hurt everyone I ever loved”, Alex became angry and started to push him towards the railings, he became angrier as he thought about everything bad that Bryce did and pushed him through the railings.

Bryce fell into the water, Jessica shouted for Alex and ran to him. Bryce started to drown as he could not swim with his injuries and called for them to help, but Jess and Alex just stood and watched in shock. Bryce couldn’t keep staying afloat due to his injuries, and sunk underwater and drowned.

Jess and Alex left in Alex’s mother’s car, they arrived at Jessica’s house and Alex told her “It’s gonna be fine. No one knows, I love you”, however Jessica was disgusted and told him he couldn’t say that ever again and that they had to stay apart from each other. Jessica went back home and so did Alex.

They didn’t talk about what happened at the dock even after Bryce is announced to be dead. On November 3, 2018, Bryce Walker was reported missing by his mother. The police started an investigation and brought in Clay Jensen immediately, possibly due to his hatred for Bryce and talking to the other players.

1. Bryce’s mother, Nora Walker, came in to the interrogation room and asked Clay if he knew where Bryce was, which he denied.
2. Two days later, police searched the water at the Navy Pier Dock and found his dead body.
3. The Evergeen County Sheriff’s Department confirmed his death as a homicide.
4. Clay Jensen became their main suspect and they tried to find evidence to tie him to the murder.

Ani and Clay then started to run their own investigation into who killed Bryce, although they started to suspect each other, but ruled themselves out later. In the last episode of the third season, Clay and Ani found out that Alex did it and helped cover his tracks.

Ani hatched a plan to frame Montgomery de la Cruz for his murder, Ani gave a convincing statement to Deputy Standall and told him where to find the evidence. After Ani finished her statement by saying Monty killed Bryce, Deputy Standall told her that Monty was killed in his jail cell. Ani was made aware of this before going to the police (the reason why she was able to frame Monty) and acted like she wasn’t aware of it, Ani told Deputy Standall that both Bryce and Monty did a lot of bad things to people while they were alive, and told him to “Let the dead bury the dead”.

Deputy Standall told her that they found his wife’s car’s tire tracks at the scene but his wife stayed in bed, Ani told him “Alex wouldn’t have been alone” and that Alex and the friends are always there for each other, so maybe Alex went to help a friend “who was maybe more injured by Bryce than he was.

Or Monty Was. Whose life had been destroyed by Bryce, and who’s had to rebuild it piece by piece.” which was not entirely a lie, because Alex did go to the pier with the intention to support Jess, not to kill Bryce. Deputy Standall decided that the explanation is good enough. The police found the evidence and closed the case (Monty was arrested for Tyler’s rape, and charged for Bryce’s murder after his death, but as he was dead, the case was closed).

Deputy Standall then told his son that the sheriff and the prosecutor believed they had enough evidence to close the case, he then stated that Bryce was killed by Monty, he watched for his son’s reaction—which was relief—and it is implied that Deputy Standall knows that his son is the actual murderer, but was fine with Monty being framed for it for his son’s sake.

1. He told Alex “You know son, when I found you last year on the bathroom floor, I-I wished that bullet was in my head not yours.
2. Do you understand?”, Alex told him he understood, his father hugged him and said: “I love you, son.” Alex told him he loved him back and his father told him “My boy.”,
3. Deputy Standall then left his house with a bag of clothes—implied to be Alex’s—he poured a flammable solvent on them, pulled a lighter out, and watched them burn, destroying the evidence.

Later, Jessica had Thanksgiving Dinner at Standall Residence with the Standalls. Deputy Standall prayed for their children about the darkness in their lives. At the end of the third season, Tyler did a photo exhibition at Monet’s, where he put up the pictures of all the people who helped him recover and change after he was raped and attempted to shoot up the school.

Jessica and Alex attended the exhibition together. After everyone had gone back inside, Jessica noticed Alex is still at the exhibition and went to check on him. There she saw him standing and crying, looking at a photo of Justin and Jessica’s. Jessica told him that she would always love him and that he was the best friend she’d ever had.

Alex apologized to her for everything but she told him not to. With tears in his eyes, Alex asked how they were gonna live with this, expressing his guilt about the murder and the cover-up. Jessica told him that they were survivors and then shook hands with Alex, saying ” FML forever,” indicating that she was ready to move on from the guilt and she wanted Alex to do so too.

Outside of Monet’s, Ani came out and Winston stated that Monty was with him the night of Bryce’s death, and he knew that Monty was innocent. He said that Monty had been a human being and that he hadn’t deserved to die the way he had before walking off in disgust at Ani for framing Monty for murdering Bryce.

At the end of the fourth season, Alex confesses to Winston who he had a brief romantic relationship the truth about Bryce’s murder. Due to his lingering love for Alex, Winston chooses not to reveal the truth. Sheriff Diaz also tells Deputy Standall that he is closing the investigation for good.

Why was Monty so evil?

Personality – Monty is cruel, sadistic, and violent, most likely because of his abusive history with his father. His violent tendencies may also be a result of his abuse of steroids. He bullies Tyler Down frequently (so much that Alex and even Bryce has to defend him on occasion), gropes Courtney at the school dance and spreads rumors of Hannah Baker being a “psycho lesbian”.

As the audience learns more of his past, the narrative makes it clear that Monty’s cruelty while inexcusable, is the result of his poor upbringing and possible self-loathing. However, he has some moments of humanity was seen when Monty admitted to Bryce that he missed Jeff Atkins and the fourth season also reveals that despite rarely caring for anyone else, he did love his sister Estela de la Cruz.

In Season 2, however, Montgomery is shown to be more depraved than others initially thought. In reality, he is a sociopathic, scheming survivalist, willing to side with whoever he believes will keep him safe even if the person is guilty. While Monty is extremely loyal to his friends and teammates, especially Bryce, it is not out of care or compassion but rather as a necessity because he believes that they are his best chance at surviving his abusive home.

• Even though Monty knows Bryce is guilty of raping multiple girls he still sides with him because of Bryce’s family’s influence and therefore his best chance of survival, despite knowing Bryce would never go the lengths Monty went to help Monty.
• He shows neither sympathy nor empathy towards any of his victims or Bryce’s victims.

He is also shown to be homicidal, trying to run over Clay Jensen in Bryce’s car and trying to tempt Alex into suicide (by giving him a gun, bullet and shooting diagram) for failing to stop Hannah’s rape. He also goes a step further when he rapes Tyler with a mop stick in the high school bathroom on top of smashing his head against the mirror and sink multiple times out of spite for the baseball season being cancelled.

In Season 3, his violent behavior is slightly more subdued than in season two, as he is revealed to be a repressed homosexual. He also becomes even more paranoid when the police begin to search the sports teams’ lockers for drugs, particularly steroids. He still remains completely callous and heartless towards others, such as mocking Justin’s drug addiction, Clay for being a suspect in Bryce’s murder, as well as making kissing noises at Tyler after his rape of him.

Monty’s rape of Tyler was so disturbing that even Bryce, who has committed far more rapes than him, is disgusted and appalled by it (even though it’s because he started to become a better person). Though, we do see a few humanizing moments for Monty, such as seeing his abuse from his father as well as his repressed homosexuality, as well as showing a softer side to Winston such as genuinely apologizing to him for beating him up the first time they hooked up and opening up to him about his feelings the second time they hook up, which shows that his virulent and obsessive homophobia is likely a result of some sort of self-loathing that he hides deep inside through his sadistic cruelty.

1. It is also implied that Monty’s friendship with Bryce might be genuine after all.
2. Since Bryce threatening Monty for raping Tyler leads to Monty telling Bryce he’ll kill him (to which Bryce replies Monty was “just a coward and always has been”) Monty was a prime suspect in Bryce’s murder.
3. However, Monty didn’t murder Bryce as he was with Winston during the murder.

Monty is then shown mourning Bryce at his funeral, crying for Bryce as Zach speaks and trying to attack the girls that protest the funeral. Monty later gets offended when Clay accuses him of killing Bryce with Monty saying, “He was my best friend a—-hole.” in a genuinely hurt tone of voice and shows further grief for Bryce when talking to Coach Keebra.

At the end of the day, Monty is a product of his environment, causing pain onto others to release his own frustrations. He is still evil, but he is still capable of showing respect towards others and feeling remorse even though he rarely does. It’s possible that if not for his death, he would have found other ways to project his anger towards his father that didn’t involve harming others.

On the other hand, he still died without showing any remorse or making any attempts at redeeming himself for his actions. Therefore, he remains mostly unsympathetic despite becoming a far more complex character than he was in the first two seasons.

Bryce Barry Walker is the main antagonist of the 2007 novel Thirteen Reasons Why and its 2017 Netflix TV adaptation, Bryce is a part of Hannah Baker’s Baker’s Dozen and the subject of Hannah Baker’s twelfth tape from her list of reasons why she killed herself.

Jessica watched it happen. Tyler revealed Monty raped him, and Monty was sent to prison where he was murdered in his cell. The gang, encouraged by Clay, pinned Bryce’s murder on the now dead Monty. Alex confessed to his policeman father Deputy Standall, but his father burned evidence to protect him.

However, fellow student Winston knew the truth – Monty couldn’t have killed Bryce as he was having sex with him at the time of the murder. As the trailer for season four dropped, it revealed the crew who framed Monty for Bryce’s murder would have to face the music, as the words “Monty was framed” are spray-painted in giant letters in the Liberty High hallway.

• It looks like Winston, Monty’s alibi on the night in question, is after justice for his dead lover, and Clay’s secrets and lies are coming back to haunt him.
• But fans have been questioning all over the internet whether Monty is really dead – here’s why.
• In the third season, we didn’t actually see the death of Monty on-screen – the group only learned he had died after being told by both Deputy Standall, and a local drug dealer who confirmed to Justin and Ani he saw Monty being killed in his jail cell.
• Viewers on Twitter found Monty’s off-screen murder suspicious, especially as 13 Reasons Why has never shied away from showing gory events on screen.

1. Something else that seems a little iffy about the character’s death is that Deputy Standall broke the news of Monty’s death to his schoolmates – the same Deputy Standall that covered up evidence for his guilty son Alex.
2. Ani gives the falsely arrested Clay an alibi, telling Deputy Standall that Clay had been driving around with her all night on the night of Bryce’s death.
3. She also tells him that Monty may have been the one to kill Bryce, saying that Monty threatened Bryce the night of a big game.

• This has made some fans still think he could be secretly alive and will make his surprising return in the final season.
• However, 13 Reasons Why showrunner Brian Yorkey seems convinced that both Bryce and Monty are definitely both dead.
• In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, that the characters may appear in flashbacks, but didn’t hint at a twist where Monty is alive.
