Why Liverpool fixtures are postponed?
Liverpool’s inability to get the better of Wolves in last week’s FA Cup tie has added another game to an already congested fixture list. The Reds’ third-round replay with the West Midlands side will take place next Tuesday (January 17), with the winning side being rewarded with a trip to the south coast to face Premier Leaguer rivals Brighton.
Progression deep into the competition, however, could further complicate matters as regards the scheduling of two Premier League matches that require rearranging. Liverpool’s league meeting with Wolves on September 10 was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, followed by an away game with Chelsea on September 18 due to policing issues – both of which are yet to have been assigned a slot in the calendar.

Given that much time to face each other, teams will naturally develop a greater sense of competition than if they had met half as much during the same time period, especially since both sides are prestigious and successful. It is appropriate, then, that Chelsea and Liverpool would resume their rivalry for the last times this season twice in a period of three days.
