How long will my PayPal money be on hold?
Congratulations on your recent sale! – We’re excited you’ve chosen PayPal to process your payments. Let’s get started with how selling on PayPal works, what you should expect and how we manage access to your money as you get started. As a new seller or someone who hasn’t sold in a while, we want to ensure you’re able to serve your customers with the high standards they deserve.
At the same time, we want to protect you, as a seller, as you navigate how payments work. We require you to confirm your identity, and we monitor your performance as a seller. As you begin your selling journey, or start selling after a while, we hold the initial payments you receive for up to 21 days,
This is a common industry practice to cover any potential buyer complaints that may happen in that time.
Why is my money on hold on PayPal if I m not a seller?
Several Disputes, Chargebacks, or Returns –
If multiple consumers file for a refund, dispute, or chargeback, it might cause your PayPal payment to be pending. To prevent or solve disputes and chargebacks, work directly with your clients and maintain good communication. It’s possible that your client filed for a refund, dispute, or chargeback as a result of someone else illegally utilizing their PayPal account to purchase something.
When this happens, PayPal advises against sending any goods. Note that you can have your money on hold even if you’re not a seller, This might happen if a friend has sent you a ‘goods and services payment’ by mistake. To fix the problem of PayPal holding your money, we suggest that you go into each transaction’s details and click the “Add Tracking” button.
You can then choose an order status, and ask your friend to click “Confirm Receipt ” on their end of the transaction to release the funds to you. To avoid such inconveniences again when receiving personal payments in the future, ask your friends to make sure they pick “Sending to a friend” as the payment option in the amount field.
Will PayPal release money on hold?
When can you access your payment? – PayPal will automatically release your payment or funds within 21 days. As long as there are no issues while transacting, your money remains safe with PayPal.
Can I call PayPal to remove hold?
How to Request a Hold Removal With PayPal As any experienced online merchant knows, dealing with difficult customers is an unavoidable part of the job. In some cases, simple correspondence is sufficient to placate an unhappy buyer, whereas certain customers simply won’t be satisfied, no matter how many concessions you’re willing to make.
Furthermore, if your small business relies on PayPal for transferring payments, disgruntled customers can place a hold on payments if they feel they’ve been treated unfairly. Additionally, in some cases, PayPal may elect to place a hold on payments they have reason to believe were made with stolen credit cards or bank account information.
If you’ve recently had a hold placed on one of your payments, you can contact PayPal to request a hold removal.
Visit PayPal’s homepage and log in to your business’s account, then click the “Contact Us” link found at the bottom of the page. Click the “Call Us” tab, then click “Contact PayPayl Customer Service” if you wish to make your case over the phone. In addition to providing you with PayPal’s customer service number, clicking this tab will present you with a six-digit one-time passcode that you will need to provide to the customer service representative who takes your call. This passcode is only good for one hour, so if you choose to place your call more than 60 minutes after receiving the code, click “Call Us” again to receive another. After calling PayPal customer service and providing your passcode, explain your situation to the customer service representative, making sure to detail why you think the hold was placed unfairly. Click the “Email Us” tab if you wish to request a hold removal via email. After being redirected to the “Email us” page, select “Disputes” from the “Topic” drop-down menu and “Respond to/Status of Buyer Dispute or Claim” from the “Subtopic” drop-down menu. Compose your correspondence in the “Message” box, then click “Send.” You should receive an email response to your request within 24 hours.

Why won’t PayPal release my money?
Why are my funds inaccessible or on hold? – PayPal may place a hold or restrict your account activity if we need a little more information from you about a transaction, your business, or your account activity. Some of the reasons why we may need this information include:
- You’re a first-time seller. When you’re a new seller, it takes time to build up enough history to demonstrate a pattern of positive buyer-seller transactions. The good news is you can usually move out of this status by confirming your identity and building up a history of positive selling activity.
- You haven’t sold in a while. When your selling activity has been dormant for a long time, it’ll also take time to rebuild a history of positive buyer-seller transactions.
- To help solve customer disputes, If multiple customers file for a refund, dispute, or chargeback, it can delay the availability of your funds. The best way to resolve this is to work directly with your customers to prevent, or solve, disputes and chargebacks. Sometimes it’s possible your customer filed for a refund, dispute, or chargeback because someone illegally used their account to buy something.
- Your selling pattern appears unusual or changed. Unusual account activity includes a recent spike in sales or a change in your average selling price, business platform, or type of item being sold.
- You’re selling higher-risk items. Higher-risk items can include tickets, gift cards, consumer electronics, computers, and travel packages.

Why is the money I received on PayPal pending?
What Does PayPal Payment Pending Mean? – The “Payment Pending” status on PayPal +1(844) 347-4323 indicates that the transaction is under review or is going through the processing stages. It does not necessarily imply any issue with the payment; rather, it’s a temporary state while PayPal ensures the security and validity of the transaction.
Why does PayPal hold money for 180 days?
Prohibited Activities –
These 180-day limitations – which prevent you from spending or withdrawing your balance – are primarily initiated to protect Paypal, its affiliates and other third-party users from payment reversals, charge backs, claims, fees, fines, penalties and other liabilities. Limitations occur for a variety of reasons – for example, if you attempt to close your Paypal account while a Resolution Center investigation is being conducted, or if you have sold an item that is in violation of a federal law.
